Despite a coaching change in the preseason, the Archbold football team has come out of the gates with a strong start to the 2015 season. A late kick return by Seth Mayer propelled Archbold to a 26-21 victory over Wickliffe on Friday, giving the Streaks a 2-0 record.
Wickliffe (1-1) had scored to take the 21-20 lead with just over a minute remaining. On the ensuing kick, Mayer scampered 85 yards to give Archbold the lead. The two-point conversion was no good but the Streak defense held off Wickliffe to claim the victory.
Bryce Williams had two touchdowns rushing and a touchdown pass to Mayer in the win.
Archbold will face a tough test on Friday when they travel east to Millbury to take on 2-0 Lake.
