Evergreen boys basketball is looking to improve upon last year’s mark of 8-15 overall and 1-7 in the NWOAL when they take the court this season.
“We are going to work hard every day and try to improve in all areas of the game,” said head coach Jerry Keifer.
It will not be easy, however, as they graduated their only all-league performer from a year ago.
Gone from last year’s squad are Nick Etue (honorable mention all-league, District 7), Alec Truckor (honorable mention District 7), and Peyton Pawlaczyk.
However, the Vikings do return letter winners Phoenix VanOstrand, Teagen Pinkelman, Jon Milliken, Josh Dowling, Bryce Hudik and Chandler Lumbrezer. And of those six returning letter winners, three were starters.
Newcomers for the Vikings are Austin Blanton, Nathan Brighton, Mason Loeffler and Zach Lumbrezer.
Evergreen must improve on the boards, according to Keifer.
“We need to work to improve rebounding the basketball at both ends of the court,” he said.
The veteran coach also says that it is a “two pony race” in the league between Archbold and Wauseon.
