Pettisville girls place fourth at state cross country meet

HEBRON – The OHSAA cross country state championships were held at National Trail Raceway in Hebron Saturday as many local girls performed well in the Division III race.

Pettisville’s girls placed fourth as a team. Minster won the meet with 38 points, St. Thomas Aquinas took second with 95 points, Gilmour Academy finished third with 154, Pettisville fourth with 175, and McDonald rounded out the top five at 233.

At the forefront for the Blackbirds was Elizabeth Sauder who took 21st with a time of 19:12.7. Alexa Leppelmeier was next, placing 26th with a time of 19:17.4.

Nichole Foor (19:37.8) placed 39th, while their next highest placer was Morgan Leppelmeier (20:36.5) who came in at 104th.

Also in the Division III girls race, Gwynn Riley of Archbold finished 29th with a time of 19:18.7.

Delta’s Maverick Wright represented the Panthers in the Division III boys race, placing 46th with a time of 16:46.8.

Kyle Vernot of Wauseon closed his season by finishing 94th in the Division II boys competition. He finished the race with a time of 17:02.7.
