Swanton built a big first half lead and cruised to a 43-13 victory over Tiffin Calvert on Friday at David W. Hansbarger Stadium.
Swanton dominated on the ground, out rushing Calvert 360 yards to 42. Sophomore Michael Lawniczak led the way, rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns for the Dogs.
He got the Bulldogs on the board first with a short touchdown run. Then after an offsides penalty on the PAT, Swanton went for two, and Lawniczak punched it in for an 8-0 lead.
He followed with another touchdown and Swanton led 15-0 with 42 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Cam Hitchen got into the act in the second quarter with a four yard touchdown run for Swanton. The PAT by Nick Koback put the Dogs ahead 22-0 with 7:32 left in the second quarter.
Tim Rankin then broke away for a 60-yard touchdown run to add to the Bulldogs’ lead. Marek Spiess found Gunnar Oakes from nine yards out to finish the scoring for the half with Swanton leading Calvert 36-0 following the Koback extra point.
The Bulldogs added another score in the third quarter to push the lead to 43-0 when Chase Avalos crossed the goal line.
Calvert tacked on two second half touchdowns to finish the scoring for the night.
The Bulldogs will look to complete the non-conference slate unbeaten when they travel to Elmore to take on Woodmore Friday at 7 p.m.
