Delta had beaten Toledo Christian by an average score of 46-7 in their last three meetings and the Panthers only extended that trend as coach Jeff Wolford’s team pounded the Eagles’ undermanned squad, 53-0 on Friday.
The Eagles played with only 19 in uniform.
Jason Beverly opened scoring just two minutes into the game when on a quarterback scramble, he picked up a pair of blocks and slipped through two more missed tackles on a 62-yard romp to put the Panthers up 7-0.
After a TC three-and-out, Dylan Rogers sliced through the left side on the first play for a 68-yard gallop to make it 13-0.
Delta stopped the Eagles in the next possession and Jesse Beverly returned the ensuing punt 76 yards to the Eagle 4 where he finished what he started with an unimpeded burst through the middle.
Rogers added a 72-yard score before the end of the quarter, giving Delta a 27-0 lead.
The Panthers kept the rout on in the second as Rogers scored his third TD of the night on a 28 yard run, Jesse Beverly got in from the two, and Brandan Langwell went 43 for another score as the Panthers rolled up 400 yards rushing in the first half on 22 carries on the way to a 47-0 lead.
Jesse Beverly padded his stats in the third with a 20 yard run with under six minutes left in the third as the second half was played with the OHSAA running clock rule with the spread greater than 30 points.
Delta ran for 448 yards for the game while Toledo Christian rushed for just 32 and completed 6 of 26 passes for 80 yards.
The Panthers attempted one pass which was intercepted.
Delta now plays on the road at Edgerton this Friday night.
