Fayette volleyball hoping experience excels on the court

The 2015 version of the Fayette volleyball team left a positive inprint on the program by finishing with a record of 16-8. They are hoping that success continues this season with the return of five letter winners.

“Excited for the season, (we are) looking to continue to improve and finish the season at least .500 overall and in the top half of the BBC through consistent serving and earning our points,” said coach Brenda Wagner, who enters her third season in charge of the Eagles.

Leading the list of returnees for the Eagles is Mckenzee Schaffner who was honorable mention All-BBC in 2016. Also back are Kaitlin Brubaker, Kelsey Fruchey, Kylie Dennison and Bailee Smith.

A newcomer who looks to be in the mix for Fayette is Rhys Ruger.

Coach Wagner says that her team’s experience and drive, which mostly describes their four seniors, is the Eagles’ primary strength. Only having six full-time varsity players is a weakness, said the coach.
