GENOA — The 795 Cup High School Soccer Invitational was held Friday through Sunday as Fulton County teams took to the field. All games were played at Genoa High School.

On the boys side, the team from Archbold finished 3-0 in the group round, Delta’s varsity team went 2-0-1, Evergreen was 2-1-0, Swanton 0-2-1 and Delta II 0-2-1.

Archbold won 5-0 over Liberty Benton II, 1-0 against Riverdale, and 4-1 over Oak Harbor. Delta I shut out Defiance 5-0, the Panthers tied with Liberty Benton I 2-2, and they bested Napoleon II 2-0.

Evergreen fell 3-1 against Liberty Benton, the Vikings topped Napoleon II 4-0, and then they won 2-0 over Defiance. Swanton finished in a scoreless tie with Port Clinton, but dropped matches with Van Buren (3-0) and Fremont Ross (5-0).

Delta II lost to Rossford (3-1) and Genoa (5-0), before finishing in a scoreless tie with Lake.

During the second round of play, Evergreen advanced to the championship game in Division 2 but came up short of the title. The Vikings fell 1-0 to Lake in the championship.

To get there they bested Oak Harbor 6-3 and Chardon 4-1.

Archbold went 2-1 in the second round, also competing in Division 2. They earned wins over Defiance (4-1) and Chardon (4-3), with a 3-0 loss to Lake in between.

In Division 1, Delta I picked up wins over Riverdale (5-0) and Maumee (3-0), but lost to eventual champion Continental 2-1.

Delta II took down Swanton 4-2 in the second round in Division 3. But from there, Delta II went 0-2 while Swanton won a pair of contests.

The Bulldogs defeated Northwood 3-1 and Napoleon II 1-0. Delta II was shut out by both Liberty Benton II and Port Clinton.

On the girls side both Evergreen and Swanton were unbeaten in the group round. Delta’s team went 1-2.

The Swanton girls earned a 3-0 win over Napoleon, 2-1 victory against Maumee, and 4-2 triumph over Port Clinton. Evergreen bested Van Buren 3-2, Central Catholic 1-0, and Otsego 1-0.

Delta was victorious 6-2 over Port Clinton, but were defeated 1-0 by Woodmore and 3-1 against Eastwood.

The Evergreen girls ended up claiming the championship in Division 2. They got by Napoleon 1-0, Swanton 2-1, then Woodmore 1-0 in the championship game.

Outside of losses to both Evergreen and Woodmore, the Swanton girls earned a 2-0 shutout win over Napoleon in the second round. The Delta girls defeated Otsego twice in the second round, however, they suffered a 3-0 loss to Woodmore in between.
