The Northwest Ohio Athletic League will be holding its annual Track and Field Championships Tuesday and Friday, May 10 and 13, at Archbold High School.
The schedule of events remains the same as previous seasons. Field event finals and running prelims will be held on Tuesday. The only running final on Tuesday will be the boys and girls 4x800m relays.
Eight athletes are looking to defend individual titles. On the girls side, Patrick Henry’s Megan Meyer is the defending champion in the 400m, Liberty Center’s Hope Oelkrug returns in the 1600m and Bryan’s Aquilina Cordic won the 300m hurdles. Archbold’s Sophie Rupp took the title last year in the high jump and Wauseon’s Teagan Rupp won the championship in the long jump.
In the boys events, Bryan’s Joshuah Taylor returns after wins in both the 800m and 1600m. Swanton’s Kayden Davis looks to defend his high jump title and Liberty Center’s Riley Chapa returns after winning the long jump.
In the team standings, Liberty Center’s girls have won three titles in a row, winning in 2018, 2019 and 2021. There was no meet held in 2020. Archbold is the defending boys champion after winning by 1.5 points over Bryan in 2021.
In the case of inclement weather, rain dates for the event will be on Wednesday, May 11 and Saturday, May 14. If the rain date is needed, the time schedule for each date will remain the same.
