Low numbers a challenge for Blackbird softball

Staff Report

The Pettisville softball team has a pair of All-Buckeye Border Conference performers returning as they try to inch closer to .500 in 2022.

The Blackbirds closed 2021 at 6-11 with a 5-7 mark in the BBC.

Alli King returns after a sophomore season in which she earned first team all-league honors. Further, Ella Richer is back after an honorable mention all-league freshman campaign.

“We have a really great group of girls who work hard and have great attitudes,” said head coach Lexie King.

Pettisville also returns seniors Mya Meck and Angie Rosillo, junior Liz Rochefort, and sophomore Morgan Blosser. But they will have to replace the likes of Kenzi Rivera (honorable mention all-league), Elise Hartzler (honorable mention all-league), and Kaylee Grimm.

“Though we have a solid core, our low numbers are going to be the greatest weakness this season,” said Coach King.

Pettisville is at Fayette Thursday and hosts Continental on Friday.
