Returning pitching should help the Swanton softball team compete in 2022. They were 17-6 a year ago and finished third in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.
The Bulldogs are also 35-13 over the last two seasons.
Swanton starting pitcher Brianna Williams is back for her senior season. They also return Taylor Forrest in the circle.
Also back for the Dogs are Trista Eitniear (honorable mention All-NWOAL), Samantha Nelson, Kyleigh Shinaver, Alaina Pelland, Ryeannah Kesler, Olivia Gowing and Jayden Hendricks. Newcomers to the squad are Miranda Yeager and Katie Floyd.
“Inexperience on defense,” said head coach Joe Nye. Their main strength is what they have back in pitching, Nye said.
Swanton was eliminated from the Division III state tournament last year with a 13-5 loss in a sectional final at the hands of Lake. They will attempt to get farther this year.
The Dogs welcome Woodward for a doubleheader this Saturday to begin the season.
