The Wauseon swim team will send 13 athletes to the upcoming district tournament at Bowling Green State University after strong performances at the Ayersville Sectional over the weekend.
On the girls side, Aariyah Hallett qualified in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races.
Myley McGinnis-Marshall punched her ticket in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Grace Rhoades did the same in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Maggie Duden advanced in the 200 and 500 freestyle as well. Natalie Kuntz made it in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
Ashley Fisher of Wauseon qualified in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle. Making it in two events as well was Reese Ankney in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Single qualifiers for the Wauseon girls were Ashley Freestone (100 butterfly) and Emilie Wasnich (100 freestyle).
The Indians had qualifying relay teams in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay. In the 200 and 400, it was the same quartet of Reese Ankney, Hallett, Duden and Rhoades.
Fisher, Kuntz, Freestone and Wasnich made up the team that advanced in the 200 medley relay.
Archbold’s Elizabeth Theobald advanced to district in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly.
Andy Scherer, Xander Ankney and Beau Reeder each qualified in two events for the Wauseon boys. Scherer and Reeder made it in the 200 and 500 freestyle, while Xander Ankney advanced in the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Isaiah Bourn of Wauseon also is onto districts in the 100 freestyle.
The Wauseon foursome of Xander Ankney, Bourn, Reeder and Scherer advanced out of the sectional in both the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
The Division II district at BGSU is this Friday. The girls will compete in the morning and the boys later in the day.
