New football regions announced

Delta senior tailback Bailey Storeholder, center, will lead the Panthers on the gridiron this season. Delta has dropped from Division V to Division VI for the 2015 campaign.

Regions have been announced for the 2015 high school football season and there is just one change among Fulton County schools.

The Delta Panthers, under new head coach Jeff Wolford, will drop to Division VI. Delta fell to Liberty-Benton in the first round of the Division V playoffs last season.

Evergreen remains Division VI and will compete in Region 20 with Delta. Other notable teams in Region 20 are Liberty Center, Tinora, Patrick Henry, Wayne Trace and Columbus Grove.

Just three boys over the enrollment cutoff for Division V, Wauseon will remain in Division IV, Region 12. The 2014 NWOAL champion Indians were regional runners-up, falling to Kenton in the final.

Other teams in Region 12 include Napoleon, Bryan, Kenton, Bellevue and defending Division III state champion Toledo Central Catholic.

Swanton and Archbold will again compete in Division V, Region 16. Archbold is one of the smaller schools in the division and was just four boys away from competing in Division VI.

The Bulldogs will try to return to the playoffs for the first time since 1995, but will have to do so in what looks to be a difficult region. Notable teams in the region include Liberty-Benton, Genoa, Wooster Triway, Lake, Eastwood, Rossford and Coldwater, who has won three consecutive state titles.

The football season kicks off Aug. 28 for local teams. Archbold is at Hicksville, Delta hosts Toledo Christian, Evergreen hosts Otsego, Swanton plays host to Ottawa Hills and Wauseon travels to Fairview.
