The Northwest Ohio Athletic League will hold its annual league cross country championships this Saturday at Evergreen.
Wauseon comes in as the defending boys league champion. The Indians held off Archbold, Liberty Center and Bryan to win the title in 2020.
Bryan senior Joshuah Taylor is the top returning runner after finishing as the runner-up a year ago. Wauseon returns Jack Callan, Hunter Wasnich and Aidan Pena, all of whom finished in the top 10 last season. Also returning are Liberty Center’s Kenny Miles, Bryan’s Trevor Mason, and Archbold’s Brady Johns and Aden McCarty.
The Tigers, led by defending league champion Hope Oelkrug, beat Wauseon and Archbold for the 2020 girls league title.
Liberty Center has the top returning finishers from 2020 in Oelkrug, MaKayla Meller, and Gracie Miller.
Wauseon also brings back a pair of returning first team all-league runners in Serena Mathews and Grace Rhoades.
The NWOAL girls championship will start at 10 a.m., followed by the boys at 10:45 a.m.
