County athletes capture titles at Eisenhart Invite

DEFIANCE — Local athletes took home titles from the Bob Eisenhart Invitational on Saturday at Tinora. The Archbold boys won the team title by edging the host school 109.5-109 and their girls tied for third with Patrick Henry, each posting a score of 78.

Tinora won the girls title with a 104 and Wayne Trace was second at 95. Locally, the Delta boys were fifth with a 61.75, Swanton took eighth (38), Evergreen and Holgate tied for ninth (37), and Fayette 14th (2).

On the girls side Swanton and Hicksville tied for eighth (32), Delta and Evergreen tied for 10th (22), and Fayette was 15th (4).

On the track for the Archbold boys, Trey Theobald won the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.32. Austin Roth finished second in the 400m at 54.63.

The Blue Streaks had winning relay teams in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400. In the field, Caleb Ranzau won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet.

Evergreen’s William Dumas tied for second in the pole vault and cleared 10 feet, 6 inches.

Delta went one and two in the boys shot put. Kai Fox was first with a throw of 42 feet, while Austin Kohlhofer took second with a throw of 40 feet, 9 and 1/2 inches.

Kohlhofer added a second place finish in the discus with a throw of 130 feet, 11 inches.

The Panthers’ Kaleb Barnes took second in the 300m hurdles, posting a time of 45.54.

The Swanton boys were led by Kayden Davis in the high jump and long jump. Davis won the high jump by clearing 6 feet in fewer attempts than Fairview’s Jeffrey Smith, then he was second in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 3 and 3/4 inches.

In the girls high jump, Sophie Rupp of Archbold won and tied a meet record with a height of 5 feet, 5 inches. Amya Coulon of Archbold was second in the pole vault at 7 feet.

Kylie Sauder won the 800m for the Streaks, finishing the race in 2:32.92. Archbold’s 4×400 relay finished second.
