ROSSFORD – The Wauseon girls bowling team placed third at the Division II district bowling competition held at Interstate Lanes in Rossford on Thursday, qualifying them for the upcoming state tournament this week.
Coldwater was district champions with a combined 3,993 total, followed by Napoleon with a 3,552, Wauseon 3,426, Liberty Center 3,399, Patrick Henry 3,366, St. Marys 3,311, Vermillion 3,253, Willard 3,118, Parkway 3,088, Port Clinton 3,076, Woodmore 2,989 and Marion Local 2,932.
In the individual standings, Wauseon’s Mackayla Kearney finished third with a 626 series total. Summer Brown added an eighth place finish and 551 series for the Indians.
The boys competition took place Friday at Interstate Lanes. Nic Kearney rolled a 586 series for Wauseon, however, he will not be moving on to the state tournament.
