A Northwest Ohio Athletic League wrestling quad took place at Swanton on Thursday that also featured Wauseon, Archbold and Bryan. Wauseon and Archbold came away winners as both squads throttled a depleted lineup from Bryan and also took down Swanton.

The Indians first defeated the Bulldogs 65-9, then added a 76-6 win over the Golden Bears, with the lone win for Bryan coming via forfeit at 220 pounds. The Blue Streaks hammered the Bears 52-15 in their opening match, then clipped Swanton by a final of 40-37.

Highlighting Wauseon’s night were McKayla Campbell at 106 pounds, Tony Banister (195) and Alex Sosa (285) who each scored multiple pins.

Additionally, Tre Campbell earned two impressive wins at 182 pounds. He earned a pin over Anthony Westfall of Swanton and then a victory by technical fall against Bryan’s Wion Moor.

“I thought we wrestled really well tonight,” said Wauseon coach Mike Ritter of his team’s performance. “I was expecting a really good match up with Swanton. They have a good team, but we came out of the gate fast and didn’t look back.”

Archbold had a total of seven victories by forfeit in their round one dual with Bryan, but had to win a hard-fought contest against the host school.

Noah Mattin (132), Jacob Trejo (170), David Bell (182) and Trevor Short (220) each earned pins against the Bulldogs.
