With losing only one letter winner from last year’s team, look for Evergreen wrestling to be more competitive in their fourth year under head coach Lucas Burkholder.
According to Burkholder, the Vikings have a good combination of returning leadership and nice young talent on their 2015-16 roster.
The coach is looking forward to the season.
The Vikings graduated just one letter winner, Marty Nichols, who was a district qualifier. However, returning for the Vikes are Jared Fahrer, Tony Boger, Mason Kasefang, Sergio Reyna and Sam Williamson.
They also add newcomers Travis Mersing, Thomas Pollard, David Moore, Isaac Yunker, Jace Jenkins, Jack Worline, Trey Malosh and Nate Krohn, but Burkholder notes they will still have some holes in the lineup.
Evergreen’s season starts Friday at the Northwood Derr Invitational. The tournament runs through Saturday.
