BRYAN – No Fulton County team won an overall title, but several area athletes claimed individual titles during the finals of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League Track and Field Championships which concluded Friday night in Bryan.
The Archbold girls did finish runner-up to Liberty Center in the team standings, notching 96.33 points to the Tigers’ 139. Wauseon’s girls tied for third with Bryan, each finishing with 94 points.
The Bryan boys won the team title with 125 points, followed by Liberty Center with 118 points. Archbold was third with 109.5 points while Wauseon rounded out the top four with 93.5.
In the running finals that took place Friday, Archbold was led by Dakota Stamm who won titles in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Gwynne Riley added a title in the 800 meter run for the Blue Streaks.
Archbold’s 4x200m relay team of Iris Pena, Emma Hall, Riley and Kylie Sauder won with a time of 1:49.23. Their 4x400m team consisting of Brittney Ramirez, Sauder, Riley and Stamm won with a time of 4:07.19.
The Wauseon girls garnered individual titles from Paige Allison Smith in the 100m and Samantha Aeschliman in the 1600m.
Winning the 300m hurdles was Cassandra Lee of Delta.
On the boys side, Wauseon was led by James Hutchinson who won the 300m hurdles and Braden Vernot who won the 3200m. Hutchinson also placed second in the 110m hurdles.
Archbold got runner-up finishes from Trey Theobald in both the 100m and 200m. Elijah Zimmerman was second in the 300m hurdles for the Streaks.
For Evergreen, Reece Serna notched titles in the 100m and 200m. Swanton’s Dylan Gilsdorf finished second in the 1600m and third in the 800m.
The Archbold, Swanton, and Wauseon boys and Wauseon and Evergreen girls are at Defiance May 15-17 in a Division II district meet. The Delta boys and Archbold, Delta, and Swanton girls are in a Division III district at Archbold. The Evergreen boys are at the Division III district in Findlay. Those tournaments begin this Thursday, May 16, and concludes on Saturday.
