Archbold girls take third in Division III at state cross country

HEBRON – The State Cross Country Championships, which were moved back a week due to flooding at the course in Hebron, finally were run on Saturday. Leading area runners were the Archbold girls, placing third in Division III.

The Minster girls won the team title with 46 points; Ft. Loramie was next with 134, and Archbold third at 139. West Liberty-Salem and Liberty Center rounded out the top five.

Kylie Sauder finished 12th for the Blue Streaks, running the race in 19:44.5. Dakota Stamm was 26th, with a time of 20:12. Gwynne Riley came in at 42nd (20:37.3) for the Streaks, Karley Ramirez 50th (20:45.4), and Regan Ramirez 90th (21:36.6).

Sarah Schwan capped off her successful career at Evergreen, where she finished 41st (20:34).

Wauseon had two runners at opposite ends of the spectrum compete in the Division II boys and girls meet. Senior Michael Cheezan closed his career by finishing 36th (17:18) in the boys race. In the girls race, freshman Maggie Duden came in at 83rd (20:47.9).

Pettisville was led by Max Leppelmeier in the Division III boys race. Leppelmeier finished 35th with a time of 17:23.4.

Logan Rufenacht was 57th (17:39.1) for the Blackbirds.

For Fayette, Brett Merillat finished 89th (17:55.6).
