Area runners punched their tickets to the upcoming Tiffin Regional this past Saturday at various district meets.
At the Division II Ottawa District, Wauseon had several runners advance.
Michael Cheezan took first in the boys race for the Indians, posting a time of 16:56.1. Their next highest was Braden Vernot who placed 18th (17:56.6). The top 12 advanced on the boys side.
The Wauseon girls advanced as a team, finishing third with 98 points. Napoleon was first with 62 points and Lima Shawnee second at 92.
Leading the Indians was Magdalena Duden who finished runner-up with a time of 20:12.8. Serena Mathews placed ninth (20:41.3), Hannah Richer 16th (21:22.6), Megan Carroll 34th (22:50.2) and Zarhea-Delaney Carroll 37th (22:58.9).
There was only one qualifier out of the Division II meet at the Findlay Owens Campus. Brett Bettinger of Swanton finished runner-up with a time of 17:24.16.
Caden Garrow of Archbold just missed on qualifying, taking 11th (18:25.62). The top eight boys advanced to the regional meet.
Many county teams advanced in the Division III meet at Findlay. The meet was separated into two districts.
In District 1, the Fayette boys placed fourth to advance. Brett Merillat took fourth for the Eagles with a time of 17:17.2. Elijah Lerma placed 14th (17:52.53), Quinn Mitchell 16th (17:55.82), Caden Colegrove 39th (18:53.2) and Eli Eberly 40th (18:55.56).
The Pettisville boys placed third to advance in District 2. Logan Rufenacht won the race for the Blackbirds, posting a time of 16:55.84. Max Leppelmeier took fourth (17:20.01), Calvin Nofziger 17th (18:27.26), Caleb Nolander 40th (19:14.43) and Mitchell Avina 41st (19:15.07).
Evergreen’s Augie Tipping placed seventh (17:46.81) and Delta’s Nickolas Sherick 16th (18:21.89) to advance individually.
On the girls side in District 1, Evergreen placed fourth to advance as a team. Sarah Schwan was second (19:31.27), Kayla Gleckler fifth (20:42.32), Kennedy Keller 21st (22:13.98), Emma Majewski 51st (24:40.18) and Jolie Huffman 62nd (26:26.93).
Advancing for Fayette were Chloe Merillat who took ninth (21:05.33) and Amber Gaona 12th (21:23.07).
Archbold placed first and Pettisville was runner-up to advance in District 2.
For the Bluestreaks, Kylie Sauder was first (19:24.43), Dakota Stamm third (19:59.68), Gwynne Riley eighth (20:48.79), Brittney Ramirez 11th (20:58.08) and Regan Ramirez 12th (21:00.3).
Kate Stuber of Pettisville finished sixth (20:45.63), Morgan Leppelmeier ninth (20:50.21), Kelly Miller 19th (21:41.5), Sarah Foor 20th (21:55.48) and Ava Hoylman 34th (23:42.6).
