Jen Croninger steps down as Wauseon softball coach

Staff Report

Due to reasons pertaining to her teaching career, Wauseon softball coach Jen Croninger resigned from her position and the school board accepted the resignation at a meeting in September.

“This past spring, I made a teaching move within the school system I teach in, from being a Title One Reading Specialist back into the regular classroom,” she said in a letter to the board explaining the decision. “The change was made to allow me to continue to teach and inspire first grade children the way my heart desires. With the change in positions also came (a) change in duties and timing I am needed to be at school. These new times conflict with being a coach in ways I cannot feasibly manage practices and especially game times, and give 150 percent of my attention or physical self to.”

In Croninger’s second season in charge of the program this past spring, the Indians won a Northwest Ohio Athletic League title. It was their first league crown since 2009.
