Led by senior Bridget Harlett’s two goal and one assist night, the Swanton Bulldog girls soccer team won at home over Delta Tuesday, 4-0.
She helped get the scoring started with a beautiful crossing pass on the right side of the net to Aricka Lutz, who knocked it home 7:16 into the contest.
Delta had chances off a pair of corner kicks from Alayna Mitchell with around 32 minutes left in the half. Her first found its way to Cassandra Lee but her boot missed its target. Freshman Anna Munger had an attempt on the second corner kick; however, it was turned away by the Bulldog defense.
It was the Panther defense that had to survive a myriad of attacks from Swanton.
Harlett almost had a goal when her shot on a breakaway at the 29:31 mark grazed the crossbar and skipped over the net.
However, Swanton finally cashed in with 6:41 left in the opening half. Averie Lutz curled one in from about 25 yards away, putting the Bulldogs up 2-0. Just over a minute later, with 5:40 remaining, Harlett got her first of two goals, for a 3-0 lead.
Lee tried to cut into the Swanton lead with 1:29 left. Getting nearly parallel with the goal on the left side, she nearly snuck it into the net. But, Swanton goalkeeper Frankie Nelson was able to corral the shot.
The Dogs got a goal within the first nine minutes of the second half, then coasted from there. It was Harlett with the score, bending one into the right corner of the net to reach the final tally.
