FINDLAY – Archbold twice came back from double-digit deficits before finally getting the go-ahead score with 1:12 remaining, lifting them to a 28-27 win at Liberty-Benton in non-league football last Friday.
The Eagles went up by 13, 27-14, just nine seconds into the final quarter on a 29-yard passing touchdown from Michael Erdeljac to Jon Sadler.
However, the quarter was all Bluestreaks from that point on. They made it a six-point game on a seven-yard run from Zach Rocha with 5:09 remaining.
Then with just 1:12 left, quarterback Brandon Taylor hit Elijah Zimmerman for a 16-yard scoring strike and Zimmerman’s extra point put the Streaks ahead for good. He was four of four on extra points.
Taylor and Rocha had TD runs of 33 and 12 yards in the third quarter which knotted the game at 14. This was in response to a pair of Erdeljac TD passes which gave the Eagles a two-score lead at the break.
The Streaks outgained the Eagles 372-232, including 243 yards rushing to negative six from L-B.
Taylor had 129 yards passing with two TDs to one interception, while also adding 73 yards and a score on the ground. Rocha racked up 64 yards on nine carries and a pair of scores.
Erdeljac threw for 238 yards with four TDs and a pick. Marshall Rose caught nine passes for 140 yards and a TD.
Archbold (2-0) returns home to face Lake (2-0) this week.
