DEFIANCE – Wauseon held Tinora scoreless for nearly three quarters, rolling to a 36-7 win on the road over the Rams Friday night.
Xavier Torres had touchdown runs of two and 26 yards, plus a two-point conversion on Connar Penrod’s touchdown pass to Sean Brock, helping the Indians get out to a 24-0 lead by halftime.
The Rams’ lone score came with seven ticks to go in the third quarter when Andrew Imthurn scampered 61 yards.
However, Wauseon responded with a pair of Joey Shema TDs.
The first TD was a 42-yard catch and run at the 11:10 mark of the fourth. Then, with 5:47 to go, Shema ran one in from three yards out.
The Indians outgained the Rams 367-148. Torres led them on the ground with 71 yards on nine carries and two scores. Shema ran for 62 on 13 carries and that last score.
Penrod completed 10 of 20 passes for 137 yards with two TDs and an interception. Imthurn paced Tinora with 78 yards rushing on eight carries.
Wauseon (1-1) finishes non-league play at home versus Napoleon (0-2) this Friday.
