Lady Raiders fall at NY

NELSONVILLE, Ohio — A rough night on the road for the Lady Raiders.

The Nelsonville-York volleyball team defeated River Valley 3-1 in a Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division match-up on Tuesday night in Athens County. The Lady Raiders (4-11, 2-6 TVC Ohio) started the match off with a 25-19 Game 1 win, but the Lady Buckeyes took the match with three-straight set victories (25-14, 25-13, 25-14).

Senior Courtney Smith led River Valley with four service points, followed by Emily Adkins and Jessi Steele with three points each. Brianna McGuire and Alex Truance earned a point each for the Lady Raiders.

Nelsonville-York’s efforts were led by Kaitlyn Hurd, who recorded 12 points, followed by Viki Osborne had 11 points. Chelsie Mays had eight points, while Sam Taylor had four points and Tori Campbell recorded three points for the Lady Buckeyes.

This was Nelsonville-York’s second victory over River Valley this season. The Lady Raiders fell to the Lady Buckeyes in five sets on Sept. 1 in Bidwell.

The Lady Raiders’ next game will take place at Meigs on Thursday. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
