METAMORA – Fresh off a three game thrashing of NWOAL foe Patrick Henry, Evergreen ran their record to 10-1 overall by ripping Genoa in straight sets, 25-10, 25-13 and 25-5 on Saturday at home.
Seven first set aces, including an early trio by Megan Floyd that helped the Vikes to an early 11-1 lead, spurred the Evergreen offense.
Haili Mossing also recorded a couple service aces while Alyssa Noe and Lauren Overfield chipped in with one each.
Eden Eisel used a variety of moves to score seven kills, including a two-handed dunk off a block that ended the first game.
The Vikings broke away from a 15-12 lead in the second set using a pair of Mossing shots from the left side and two aces from Eisel that fueled an 8-0 run to boost the Vikes lead to 23-12.
Mossing ended the set with a spike into the heart of the Genoa defense, then a two-hand push that found the floor.
Two Noe aces and Eisel’s thunder slam from the middle got Evergreen going in the third, then with the score at 12-4, the Vikes put the match away.
Kaela Fauble hammered home five kills from the middle and Mossing scored four aces during an 11-0 run before Noe scored from the right side to end the match.
The Vikings now face Archbold in an NWOAL match tonight on the road.
