Pettisville girls take second, Archbold fifth at regional cross country meet

TIFFIN – The Pettisville and Archbold girls cross country teams kept their momentum from the district meet going on Saturday as each placed in the top eight at the Tiffin Regional to advance to state in Division III.

The Blackbirds took second behind Minster with 136 points, while Archbold finished fifth with a score of 188.

Pettisville was led by Elizabeth Sauder, placing second overall with a time of 19:16.88. Next were Nichole Foor at fifth (19:25.48), Kate Stuber 44th (20:47.38) and Kelly Miller 68th (21:11.27).

At the forefront for Archbold was Kylie Sauder who placed 16th with a time of 20:00.16. Dakota Stamm came in at 27th (20:15.11), Gwynne Riley 56th (21:04.85) and Brittney Ramirez 59th (21:06.39).

Another state qualifier in the area came out of Evergreen, as Sarah Schwan finished third (19:20.15). She is the first state qualifier for the Vikings.

Jenna Hallett placed 54th (21:03.71) for the Delta girls.

No teams qualified in the Division III boys meet, but there will be a few individuals representing their schools at state.

For Delta, Maverick Wright advanced after finishing 19th (17:00.85). Hayden Davis placed 53rd (17:40.89) for the Panthers.

Logan Rufenacht placed 24th (17:02.96) and Max Leppelmeier 25th (17:04.98) to advance for Pettisville.

The Wauseon boys team competed in the Division II race, but Kyle Vernot is the only one who punched a ticket to state. He finished fifth with a time of (16:09.24).

Joshua Lowry finished inside the top 20 at 18th (16:53.44), however, he did not advance. Michael Cheezan took 22nd (17:16.14) for the Indians, while Braden Vernot came in at 45th (17:51.44).

Brett Bettinger of Swanton finished 50th (17:58.15).

In the Division II girls race, Hannah Richer of Wauseon placed 60th (21:59.75).
