Delta rang up 11 runs in the first three innings and went on to beat Evergreen 11-1 in a five inning ACME contest at Delta.
Austin Sayen’s run scoring double off Viking starter Teagen Pinkelman, along with a two-out error, gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead after one.
Delta padded that advantage in the second after one out.
Panther pitcher Owen Tedrick, moved to third on Pinkelman’s wild pick-off attempt, and scored on Justin Anderson’s single.
The last hitter in the Panther lineup, Ron Vargas drew a walk, then with two out, Gabe Freeman brought both runners home with a long triple to right center to give Delta a 5-0 lead.
Sayen grounded a double down the left field line leading off the third and scored on Blake Gladieux’s base hit.
After a force play and a walk, Anderson doubled home two more runs, Owen Jagodzinski’s flare fell for a double and Aaron Abbott’s two-out, two-run single plated two more to make it 11-0.
Evergreen scored in the fourth when Pinkelman singled, moved to third on Nick Etue’s single and a walk, and scored on a Panther miscue for the Vikings only run.
Tedrick went the five innings for the win for Delta.
The two teams play again in the opening round of the ACME Sectional Tournament at 4:30 p.m. this Friday at Napoleon.
