Fulton County 4-H scholarships, Skillathon placers announced

The Fulton County 4-H program recently announced the following recipients for the 2017 Fulton County 4-H Endowment Fund Scholarships. To be eligible for the endowment scholarships, 4-H members (present or past) filled out a scholarship application and were then selected based on their 4-H projects, their community activities, their 4-H experiences and their long-range career goals.

Recipients are:

Humbert Scholarship for Continuing Education: Janie Starcher (Perrysburg),

Cook Memorial and Recognition Award: Janie Starcher (Perrysburg),

Biddle Scholarship for Career Public Speaking: Mary Miller (Delta),

Biddle Scholarship for H.S. Grads or College Students in Education: Rachel Jordan (Swanton),

Biddle Scholarship for H.S. Grads or College Students in Science and Technology: Janie Starcher,

Biddle Scholarship for Continuing Education: Mary Miller (Delta),

Biddle Scholarship for Medical Science and Technology: Mary Miller (Delta),

Horse Council: Lauren Hall (Swanton),

Tonia McQuillin 4-H King & Queen Scholarship: Connor Hagans (Archbold) and Rachel Jordan (Swanton).

Ohio State Fair Representatives: Horse Qualifiers: Luke Arnold, Nicole Atkinson, Elizabeth Beck, Sarah Beck, Konner Deck, Tyler Echler, Raegan Flowers, Lyric Gleckler, Lauren Hall, Allison Herr, Hannah Herr, Nicole Johnson, Madison Kusmierz, Emily Lee, Rachel Lee, Madilynn Miller, Natalee Rose, Amber Smith, Grace Sonick, Isabelle Sumers, Harley VandeSande, and Brooklyn Wright.


Educational skillathons are conducted to test the content knowledge of youth taking species specific animal projects. Various stations such as body parts identification, reproduction and breeding, structure, diseases and conformation and cuts of meat are staged for youth.

Their scores are ranked and winners are placed.
