Children injured in Memorial Day crash in Pike Township

A two-vehicle accident in Pike Township on Memorial Day resulted in three people injured, two of them small children.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that a Ford F-250 driven by Jasin Wise, 24, of Liberty Center was westbound Monday on County Road K at approximately 11 a.m. when it failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and struck a Honda Odyssey driven southbound on State Route 109 by Jeffrey A. Jameson, 39, of Adrian, Mich. Both vehicles exited the right side of the roadway and came to rest in a field.

Wise was uninjured from the crash. The Honda’s front seat passenger, Nichole Jameson, 39, of Adrian, Mich., sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. Of the Jamesons’ four children in the vehicle, two of them, ages eight and nine, were uninjured. Two others, ages three and four, sustained serious injuries.

The three-year-old was transported to Fulton County Health Center, and the four-year-old was life-flighted to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts. The four- and eight-year-old were in a booster seat and the three-year-old was in a child safety seat. Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, and no charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Fire and Rescue, Wauseon Rescue, Life Flight, and Jeff’s Towing.
