After a long time away, the Wauseon Public Library will soon reopen on Elm Street. The opening date has been scheduled for Monday, May 8.
The over $1 million renovation at the 117 E. Elm St. location included repairing the building’s crumbling foundation, installing a new elevator, tuck-pointing exterior brickwork, adding energy-efficient windows, modernizing the interior and entryway, and upgrading the four additions. The project was paid for in part by a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant received through the federal Targets of Opportunity Program.
While work was being done, the library was temporarily housed at the former Bill’s Sports Center at 1052 N. Shoop Ave., where it relocated last August.
