Blake Young has been selected as the new principal of Wauseon Primary School. The board of education approved his reassignment at their meeting Thursday.
Young started Friday as the new principal. Young will have the opportunity to spend a couple of days with the man he is replacing, Troy Armstrong, prior to him leaving. Armstrong will become the assistant superintendent at Springfield Local Schools.
Young holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a focus on Early / Middle Childhood Studies. In addition, he has his Master of Education Degree in Administration and Supervision from University of Toledo. Following his master’s degree work, he completed the coursework necessary for an Ohio Department of Education License as a Principal Grades PK-6.
Young resides in Wauseon, with his wife, Nicole.
Also on Thursday, Michelle Leatherman was selected to serve as the Wauseon EVS Curriculum Director. She will move from eighth grade language arts to her new administrative role starting on Sept. 9.
Leatherman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Master of Education Degree in School Counseling. Recently, she completed the requirements for her Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision with a concentration in Curriculum. With this most recent degree, she will also be licensed to be a principal at any level from Grades PK – 12.
Leatherman lives in Wauseon with her husband, Keith, and their two children.
