Weston woman dies in Swanton crash

One person is dead following a crash south of Swanton on Tuesday.

The Toledo post of the State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal crash involving two vehicles which occurred at the intersection of S. Fulton Lucas Road (County Road 1) and Sherman White Road (County Road D) in Swanton Township. The crash occurred at approximately 12:48 p.m.

At approximately 12:48 p.m., a 2014 Nissan Sentra being driven by Lori Gonyer, 45, of Weston, Ohio was northbound on S. Fulton Lucas Road. It failed to stop at a posted stop sign and was struck by a 2003 Sterling commercial truck driven by Eugene Dombkowski, 50, of Toledo, that was westbound on Sherman White Road, according the Highway Patrol.

Gonyer was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Safety belts were in use by both parties. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Swanton Fire Department, Swanton Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, and Fulton County EMS.
