Wauseon’s Brock Mealer will be among the speakers at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Mealer beat the odds and walked again following a tragic car accident in December 2007 near Pettisville. Following the accident, he was told he had a 1 percent change to walk again.
In 2010 he completed a goal of leading the University of Michigan football team onto the field. The Big Ten Network and ESPN have both aired specials related to his story.
Today, Mealer spreads the message of facing adversity head on and persevering against overwhelming odds, no matter the challenge.
The partial list of speakers released Thursday doesn’t include any current or former elected officials from Ohio.
Among the other speakers announced are Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Jeff Sessions, Newt Gingrich, Ivanka Trump, Paul Ryan, Ben Carson, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and Senator Mitch McConnell.
