It was another successful year for Relay for Life of Fulton County as the 2016 fundraising goal is in sight.
The goal for 2016 is $110,000. With the Relay for Life event at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in the rear view mirror, just over $100,000 has been raised. There is still about 2 months left to collect towards the 2016 goal.
Things went well at the fairgrounds, although the weather could have been a little nicer.
“The event went really well!,” said Amanda Bird, Relay for Life of Fulton County chairperson. “The weather was decent, but the heat and humidity kept some away. We feel as a group that everything went really well and a lot of fun was had by all.”
She said that the amount raised is comparable to last year. “We had a higher total at the closing ceremonies than we had last year,” said Bird.
One of the fundraising events remaining this year is the Bingo and Wine fundraiser on July 14. It will be held at A.K.A. Designs Ltd., 209 N. Fulton St., Wauseon.
The event, hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church’s Relay for Life team, will run from 6-9 p.m. with games beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $25. Call A.K.A Designs at 419-335-3000 to reserve your place. Space is limited. Register by July 6 to receive an additional Chinese auction ticket.
Bird added that Relay for Life is also working with Pizza Hut to schedule a fundraiser. Donations are also still being accepted online at relayforlife.org/fultoncounty.
As for 2017 Relay for Life, anyone interested in joining the committee or starting a team can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We want to thank everyone for their support throughout the year. We couldn’t have done it without the teams, committee, family, friends, survivors, and everyone that came out to the event,” said Bird. “We appreciate all of you and can’t wait to see you all in 2017!”
