Adult programs planned at Swanton Library

The Swanton Public Library has multiple programs planned in January, including a sewing club and Dungeons and Dragons.

Written in the Stars

Join local astrologer and numerologist Janet Amid for a preview of what 2023 holds in store. See what she expects from her own predictions.

Lucky attendees may be drawn at random for a personalized mini reading. This program will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m.

Attendance is free, but registration is requested.

Book club

Gretchen’s Book Club will meet on the second Thursday in January, the 12th, at 5:30 p.m. There is no book for this month, but instead the book club will have an open discussion. Attendees can bring in books they’ve enjoyed over the last year, discuss them, and decide what books the club will discuss over 2023.

All are welcome.

D&D at the Library

Don’t have time for a proper campaign? Join one of the librarians for a mini-dungeon or two.

The library’s own professional dungeon master will be on hand Jan. 10 and 24 starting at 5 p.m. to help you on your evening adventures. This program is free to attend and no registration is required.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, join local cardmaking expert Anna Geis in making three cards on a theme. For January, you can make something from the heart for your loved ones.

Stop by the library on Thursday, Jan. 19 starting at 4:45 p.m. and make your gift-giving a little more DIY this year. Class fee is $7 per person, with all supplies provided. Please pre-register as room for this class is limited.

Seam-Rippers Sewing Club

Do you have some free time in the mornings and want to brush up on your sewing skills? Do you have some sewing projects and just want a little company while you work? Lucky for you, the Seam Rippers are back this month—Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. No registration is required and walk-ins are encouraged. Packed lunches are welcome and encouraged. All you need is yourself and your newest sewing project;.

Recurring programs

Chess Club is open to beginners and seasoned chess players alike, and meets in the library every Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The Swanton Historical Society will meet every Friday in January at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in joining or volunteering with the Historical Society is encouraged to attend.

The local Writers Group will meet Thursdays the 12th and 26th at 6:30 p.m. and writers of all skill levels are encouraged to stop in.

Local knitters are back again from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesdays the 11th and 25th. Fiber artists of all levels are invited to join—spinners, weavers and crocheters also invited.
