The Wauseon Lions Club and the owners of the Brown Bag Market, Kathie McClarren and Viola Coblenz, recently announced they are holding their third annual raffle. Tickets will be sold from Nov.1-30 with the drawing held the first Tuesday in December.
The prizes are gift certificates to the Brown Bag Market, including $250 for the top prize. The tickets can be purchased through any Wauseon Lions Club Member. Tickets are one for $5 or 5 for $20. You need not be present to win and the winners will be contacted 2-3 days after the drawing.
The Brown Bag Market, on the corner of County Road J and State Route 108, mostly specializes in bulk foods but they are so much more. They have a full service deli counter of deli meats and Amish foods, and bulk candies.
The Wauseon Lions Club has been serving Wauseon for over 70 years. They continue to serve the community with a traditional goal of preventing blindness by assisting people with eye exams and glasses but their goals have expanded.
They hold a spring and fall food drive, teaming with Chief supermarkets to prevent hunger in the community. This is a new goal for the International Lions Club but one that the local Wauseon Lions Club has been working on for several years.
Wauseon Lions Club gave to the Diabetes Youth Service Center out of Toledo to sponsor medical summer camps for children struggling with Type 1 diabetes, an auto immune disorder. The prevention of diabetes is another expanded goal of the International Lions Club. The camps were held in person this year allowing a child from our community to attend the camp. The Wauseon Lions Club was able to provide a scholarship to pay for the camp.
The Wauseon Lions Club meets the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 6:30 p.m., at Ryan’s Restaurant. Any one interested in serving the community, by exploring the Wauseon Lions Club, can contact Lion Jerry Smith at 419-340-8152.
Those interested can also talk to a Lions Club member Saturday Nov. 5 or Nov. 19, when they will be selling tickets at The Brown Bag Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like to buy tickets contact Lion Mark at 419-822-6079.
