Harris pleads not guilty to charges

Devon A. Harris of Wauseon has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the death of a three-year-old. Appearing Aug. 23 in Fulton County Common Pleas Court with his court-appointed attorney, Clay Gerbitz, Harris entered a plea of not guilty to each count.

The most serious charge from the grand jury was murder. The indictment also included a count of involuntary manslaughter and a count of felonious assault.

The Grand Jury also included two separate counts of endangering children.

A pre-trial hearing was set for Sept. 28.

Two arrested after drug-related search

Two people have been arrested on drug charges after a search warrant was executed in Wauseon Sunday.

The Multi-area Narcotics Task Force, with assistance from the Wauseon Police Department, executed the search warrant at 243 Beech St. after an investigation into potential distribution of narcotics.

The action resulted in the arrest of Avante Koonce, 29, for at least one count of trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony. Brooke Werder, 28, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant of aggravated possession of drugs.

Additional charges are pending for both.

Seized during the search warrant was suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl/heroin, butane honey oil (DAB) manufacturing equipment, also with a sawed off shot gun and money, according to a release from the Multi-area Narcotics Task Force.
