Green Carpet Event slated

Staff report

The Northwest State Community College Foundation is hosting its annual Green Carpet Event, “Hats Off,” on Thursday, May 12.

The evening will feature gourmet food stations, a comedy hypnotist, a cash bar, and a silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. Auction items donated by individuals and businesses include Disney World theme park passes, a vacation package to the Smoky Mountains, tickets to great sporting events, a golf membership, and valuable gift cards, among others.

Highlighting the evening will be the presentation of the 2016 Making a Difference Award to Rick Small of Dental Excellence of Napoleon and to Adriel Foster Care. The award was created by the NSCC Foundation as a way to recognize and celebrate an individual, business and organization in the six-county area committed to bettering their community.

“The Making a Difference Award honors those who have had a positive impact in the six-county region served by Northwest State. It is not about what the award recipients have done for the college but what they have done to change lives in our local communities,” said Robbin Wilcox, foundation director of development at NSCC.

Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships.

Platinum sponsors for the evening include Chase Brass, First Federal Bank, Parkview Physicians Group, Rupp Seeds, Inc., Sauder Companies, SJS Investment Consulting, Inc., and Swanton Welding and Machining Company.

The Green Carpet event is open to the public by reservation. Tickets are $75 per person, and are available through May 5.
