Wauseon Council approves Biddle Park drainage improvement

Staff Report

Wauseon Council last week approved a measure designed to ease flooding issues at Biddle Park.

Councilor Harold Stickley told the full Council that drainage issues were discussed at the most recent Park Board meeting. The drainage issues have led to floods on the field, which in turn led to games and practices being canceled.

Stickley said the recommendation was to tile the four north fields at Biddle Park. Council unanimously voted to approve the recommendation.

Also at the meeting, Council approved the third reading of a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into agreements for engineering services. And an emergency resolution was approved to enter into the 2022 Maumee Valley East Chip Consortium partnership agreement between Henry County, Fulton County, Napoleon and Wauseon.

In department reports, Police Chief Kevin Chittenden gave an update on vehicles the department will receive. They have so far received one of two Dodge Durangos. They are also waiting on parts for the vehicles, including brackets and a camera system.

Keith Torbet, director of public service, told Council that Wauseon is on the Yellowstone Historical Automotive Trail. Signs will be hung around town.

The trail is along State Route 2 in Fulton County.

He also said there has been great feedback regarding the new pickleball courts at Homecoming Park.
