The Evergreen High School Drama Club will be producing “Once Upon a Mattress” for its spring musical production on April 15 and 16.
“Once Upon a Mattress” is the story of The Princess and The Pea that you haven’t heard. Senior Erica Harmon plays Princess Winnifred, the princess who is being tested to marry Prince Dauntless, played by senior Ross Shaffer. However, his mother, Queen Aggravain, played by senior Delaney Smith, will do what she needs in order to make sure that her son does not marry.
This musical comedy gives the audience a new take on this not-so-traditional fairy tale. More than 60 EHS students are involved in the production.
The cast and crew have been working hard to get ready for showtime.
“Rehearsals are going remarkably well. Our cast and ensemble are hard workers, and it shows on the stage all the time and effort they have placed into this production,” said Melanie Yoder, director. “I feel honored to be co-directing such talented and gifted students that have given up a lot of their precious time to make this musical a success.”
“Once Upon a Mattress” will be performed on April 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Middle School gymnasium.
Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at Evergreen High School. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Reserved seating and general admission (bleacher seating) are both available while they last. For ticket information, call 419-644-2951.
“I’m very excited about our show, and with such talented students, it’s going to be a production that you won’t want to miss! The students thrive on the energy that comes from a great audience,” said Kristen Woodard, musical director and producer. “Over the years I have been impressed with how well our students perform for their audiences in the spring musical, and am confident they will give another outstanding performance this year in Once Upon a Mattress.”
