Wauseon businesses hosting ice sculpting

Area residents are invited to Wauseon this weekend to see art created from ice. Ice Creations will be doing live ice sculpting at Wauseon businesses from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The event, sponsored by the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, City of Wauseon and Wauseon Beautification Team, originally started with 10 ice sculptures planned. That has now grown to 32, according to Wauseon Chamber of Commerce Director Bill Drummer.

“Chad Hartson, owner of Ice Creations, said that it is the largest number of sculptures that he has done in Ohio,” said Drummer. “Chad is a renowned sculptor, having appeared on TV on the Food Channel many times.”

There will be four sculptors in Wauseon Saturday, sculpting on the hour at different businesses. “All sculptures are different, holiday based, and approximately 4 feet tall,” Drummer said.

A full schedule is available on the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Pictures are encouraged as residents come out to support their favorite businesses.

“The public is encouraged to take selfies of their children and families – with Chamber Bucks as prizes for the cutest,” said Drummer.
