BSSA holding membership drive

Staff report

Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller announced that the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association, or BSSA, will conduct its annual Associate Member Drive during March.

Residents may receive a from the the BSSA inviting them to become an associate member for as little as a $20 contribution.

Miller said the funding assists with critically important technical resources, training, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues. “Many things affect law enforcement, and public safety in our county must be addressed on a state level. One sheriff alone cannot bring about all the needed changes in state policies,” he said.

He said state and court mandates resulting in higher taxes can’t be fought by a single county, adding, “It takes a statewide organization to help do these things.”

Residents who don’t receive a BSSA invitation and want to become a member can call 800-589-2772 or contact the sheriff’s office directly at 419-335-4010. Miller advised that memberships are never solicited by phone.
