First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Wauseon is welcoming Reverend Ralph Wearstler as the Interim Minister, as the congregation prepares for a new Settled Pastor.
Rev. Wearstler graduated from Hiram College, then furthered his education at Christian Theological Seminary, where he earned his Masters of Divinity degree. Following his ordination in 1980, he served three congregations as a Settled Pastor over the next 26 years. He then moved into the position of Interim Minister for 10 years for six different congregations.
As the Interim Minister, Rev. Wearstler will provide guidance to First Christian Church as he works with the Transition Team to create a profile of the church as well as the community. Interim Ministers receive specialized training to look at the history of an individual church they are at currently, as well as the direction they have a desire to reach. The Transitional Team will be in contact with small groups to inquire about their ideas as to the future direction of the church. During this time, Rev. Wearstler is getting to know and learn about the congregation and the church, which assists him in guiding the Transition Team in the formation of the profile.
Once the Transition Team, guided by the Interim Minister, creates a profile, the profile will be given to the Regional Board. The Regional Board will share the profile of First Christian Church with those pastors who have a calling to move to a different congregation.
Rev. Wearstler also has had a career-long interest in Youth Ministries, including being a past assistant director at CYF Conference (Camp Christian).
