The Wauseon Downtown Association has announced the 2015 Christmas Parade prince and princess, who will be featured on its parade float Nov. 28.
Prince Ricardo Vazquez, 6, is a first grade student at Wauseon Primary School. He is the son of Ricardo and Maria Vazquez. Ricardo enjoys wrestling, football, basketball, and baseball. He has two brothers, Sam and Santiago.
“I want to be the Christmas Parade prince because I want to see all the happy faces and wave at everyone,” he wrote on his entry form.
Princess Brooklyn Drain, 8, is a third grade student at Wauseon Elementary School., She is the daughter of Jason and Shannon Drain. Brooklyn is a dancer with Stars Unlimited Dance & Baton Studio in Wauseon, and enjoys rollerblading, bike riding, and swimming. She has a sister, Alexis, and a brother, Chase.
The annual parade will begin at 7 p.m. It concludes at the Depot with caroling, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, and cookies and hot chocolate.
The parade will be dedicated to the late Richard Batdorf, the longtime INTV’s sports director. Batdorf also served on Wauseon City Council and the city’s Homecoming, Cruise Night, and Development committees, and sat on the Ironwood Golf Club and Fulton County Heart Radiothon boards of directors. He was a Rotary Club president, a Paul Harris Fellow, a Homecoming grand marshal, a Downtown Association member, an Elks officer, and the director of the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Collegiate Golf Tournament. He attended Wauseon Evangelical Mennonite Church, now Crossroads.
