No abduction, prosecutor rules

Staff report

Two people accused locally of abduction have instead been charged with receiving stolen property.

According to Wauseon Police Chief Keith Torbet, officers were called to Walmart, 485 E. Airport Hwy., on May 1 after an unnamed woman told a store associate she was being held against her will. Thomas Biehler, 52, of Silvis, Ill., and Destany Jordan, 25, no permanent address, were taken into custody and transported to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio in Stryker.

Following an investigation, the Fulton County Prosecutor’s Office found no corroborating evidence that the woman had been abducted and did not file related charges. Torbet said the matter involved a disagreement between the accused and the woman, who were traveling together, over their destination.

However, Biehler and Jordan have been charged with receiving stolen property, and await a court hearing May 14. They remain at CCNO.
