Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, celebrated the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Its purpose is to kick off the charitable season of giving back. Although charitable contributions are needed, Dining for a Cause provides another way for people to give – doing good by dining out.

“Habitat makes housing affordable for people in need through donations and volunteers,” said Heidi Kern, the Executive Director of Fulton County’s Habitat affiliate. “Without local financial support, Habitat can’t build. And if we can’t build, we can’t help people who just need a hand up to make life doable.”

Habitat for Humanity builds and repairs homes with low-income partners who work alongside volunteers to complete their projects. Each project is funded upfront through donations and grants, while the homeowners pay back their portion to Habitat through no-interest loans.

“Raising funds for our 2019 projects is crucial if we want to stay on schedule. But I know it’s God’s plan we have to follow if we’re going to succeed,” said Kern. “We focus on helping just one more family and somehow, it seems to come together.”

Habitat plans to build a new home in Wauseon and complete home repair projects throughout the County.
