Wauseon school board tackles agenda

The Wauseon Board of Education met Nov. 19 for a workaday session.

Donations announced included $1,000 from the National Wild Turkey Federation to the Wauseon Archery Club for equipment, and $84 from Joe Friess to Wauseon Middle School for an ASUS Tek Computer Chromebit.

In other regular business, the school board approved: the resignations of Kelly Finney, primary school intervention specialist, and Cecelia Wyse, primary school first grade teacher, for retirement purposes, each effective June 1, 2019; the reassignment of Matt Mennetti from seventh grade girls basketball coach to volunteer assistant girls basketball coach; one-year limited outside athletic supplemental contracts to Brice Carroll as seventh grade girls basketball coach and to Mark Schang as varsity softball coach; Marin Miller as student pool worker.

Board members also approved “then and now” certificates for: Earl Mechanical Service, $7,325.47, for HVAC pump repairs; Johnson Controls, $8,274.87, for HVAC controls system; Public Schools Works, $4,661, for a 2018-19 annual license.

Motions approved included: a request from student Marin Miller for early completion of senior year, and to be included in the Class of 2019 commencement ceremony; Wauseon High School diplomas for for Nicole A. Kistner and Douglas S. Laycock following successful completion of all state and local requirements through the Ohio Department of Education 22+ Adult High School Diploma Program; the creation of the Ohio School Grant Safety Fund; modifications and supplemental modifications to the Fiscal Year 2019 permanent appropriations and to the Fiscal Year 2019 Certificate of Estimated Resources.

The next school board meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 10, 5:30 p.m., at the Board of Education office.
