Two write-ins among candidates for Archbold School Board

Three candidates are running for two open spots on the Archbold Board of Education. Two of the candidates are write-ins. Incumbent John Downey will face write-in candidates Jeremy M. Hurst and David Wyse.

Jeremy M. Hurst

Marital Status: Married

Age: 42

Education: Archbold High School, 1991; UT ComTech, 1995; Bluffton University, 2012.

Civic Organizations: St. John Lutheran Church, vice president; OCA Toledo Exec; TMACOG TIP Committee; Archbold Youth Flag Football Board.

1. Why are you running for office?

Sense of obligation to the community which has provided me and my family a great place to live and learn.

2. Why should people vote for you?

Whether elected or not, any vote received to me is very humbling and appreciated. If elected, it is my opinion that I can contribute in positive ways and continue to uphold the standard established by those who are current serving and by those who have served on the board in the past.

3. What are you two main goals if elected?

– Keep the best interests of our students fire and foremost.

– Listen and make informed and unbiased decisions.

4. Have you held office before?

No.

John Downey

Marital Status: Married

Age: 65

Education: University of Toledo bachelor’s and master’s of education and education specialist.

1. Why are you running for office?

To assist and provide support in providing the best education possible for Archbold students.

2. Why should people vote for you?

My education and leadership experience make me uniquely qualified to provide education leadership and support to Archbold school administrators.

3. What are your two main goals if elected?

– To provide the most effective education possible for Archbold students.

– To maintain the positive working relationship among the Archbold Schools staff.

4. Have you held office before?

Running for my second term.

David Wyse did not return a candidate questionnaire sent by the Expositor.
