1. Why are you running for office?

I am running for office for a couple reasons. After about eight years of service as a member of Wauseon City Council, I find myself still with passion for service to the citizens of Wauseon. Passion is a critical element in all of our daily activities, but even more so, when it comes to a service-oriented field. My passion allows me to focus on what is best for the majority of the citizens when considering how to vote on a particular issue. Secondly, I see there is plenty of unfinished business. During another four-year term, I look forward to bringing the Linfoot Street project to a conclusion, the construction of a city pool if funding is approved by the voters, and the continued enhancements of our beautiful parks. This list of three barely scratches the surface of what, hopefully, will be a productive four-year term.

2. Why should people vote for you?

Experience and energy are two characteristics I lean on when asking for the continued support of Wauseon taxpayers. If re-elected, I would bring eight years of legislative experience. I have learned a lot about the operation of municipality and I would love to make use of my knowledge base during another four-year term. Experience is so important, but not to be overlooked is a person’s energy. Energy is the fuel needed to push through the tough times and aspire for even better when things are good. I have plenty of fuel remaining in my energy tank for another four-year term.

3. What are your two main goals if elected?

The completion of the Linfoot Street project is at the top of my priority list in the next four years. The improvements, above and below the ground, of Linfoot Street will provide a great service to our industrial corridor. Not to mention, our residents of Wauseon and visitors to this wonderful city would have a much smoother ride along one of our higher traffic routes. Another goal would be the continued maintenance and improvement of our city’s infrastructure. The delivery of water and removal of waste water from our residential and commercial customers in not glamorous, but a critical element. Over the next four years I would be sensitive to the city’s infrastructure as items are budgeted near the end of each fiscal year.

4. Have you held office before?

I have held office before. I am currently seeking re-election to Wauseon City Council. The citizens first elected me to City Council in 2008. The past eight years have been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to another four years of service to the citizens of Wauseon. I have also been a long-standing board member of the Northwest Community Corrections Center, which is more commonly known as the SEARCH program. It is a residential treatment facility working with felony offenders. During my participation as a board member I have been directly involved in the budgetary process of this state funding facility, which has helped in speeding up my learning curve when considering the city’s budgetary process.

5. Do you have anything else to add?

My mother and father are Carol and Garry Chamberlin of Delta. I am the adult today because I was raised in a loving and responsible home as a youngster. Many thanks to my parents! I graduated from Delta High School in 1994, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Defiance College in 1998. During college tenure I majored in Criminal Justice. In 1998, I was hired by Judge James E. Barber as the Fulton County Chief Adult Probation Officer. Many thanks to Judge Barber for rolling the dice on a “kid” right out of college. In 2000, I married Keri (Unger). We are the proud parents of Maddux, a seventh-grader, and Macy, a fourth-grader. Keri and I enjoy spending time at various venues watching Maddux and Macy participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. I am excited to to have a front row seat as our children continue to grow in such a wonderful community.

1. Why are you running for office?

I feel I have a lot of offer. I love this community. There are great things on the horizon and I want to be a part of it. Change and new ideas are great! Plus why wouldn’t I want to represent such an amazing community.

2. Why should people vote for you?

Of course I want people to vote for me, who wouldn’t want it. The truth is I want everyone to exercise their right vote. Change does not happen by itself by involved. Talk to those running get to know the candidate. Which leads to why people should for me. I will represent the people, not personal agendas. Larger issues need to have input of constituents. My policy would be open door, open ideas, open conversation.

3. What are your two main goals if elected?

1. To work with existing council to revitalize downtown by promoting opening of new business, and helping existing business grow.

2. To form and support a united strong city government with open door policies, strength in the community and the ability to put Wauseon back in the limelight for positive things.

No. I have worked on campaigns and various boards.

1. Why are you running for office?

When I first got married I was very active in the community. My wife and I have two children (Paige and Chloe) and we focused on raising them. Now that they are grown, I would like to give back to the community again.

2. Why should people vote for you?

I have been serving the community for the last 30 years, working at the Wauseon Union Cemetery and have enjoyed working with the public. I am a very good listener. Over the years, working at the cemetery, it has taught me that I serve the public, not the other way around.

3. What are your two main goals if elected?

First, to be fiscally responsible and watch the budget. The economy goes in cycles and we have to be mindful not to spend all the taxpayers’ money in the good times, so we have a reserve in the bad times. Secondly, to make sure our infrastructure is sound for the future.

4. Have you held office before?

No

5. Do you have anything else to add?

If elected to city council I am only going to serve for one term. I believe, a few council seats, should be one or two terms and be done. This way we have new people with fresh ideas on council all the time.
